The deets: Piperlime shirt; Tobi skirt; Boutique 9 heels; J.Crew Factory nacklace.
I grew up in the 90's. Back then it was pretty awesome to match your entire outfit. My acid washed jean skirt with floral ruffle detailing on the bottom would likely come with a matching floral vest and over-sized matching floral print bow to plop on the top of my head to boot. I would obviously then go find a pair of matching Keds to complete the look...and that was the coolest.
Confession: sometimes's really hard for me to not match my clothes like I'm back in 1995 again.
These are the five shades of lipstick I SWEAR by. They are the only colors I've ever been seen wearing on this here blog to date and I honestly feel like I will never need to purchase another lipstick as long as I live because no matter what I am wearing or however I am vibing in any situation, one of my favorite five gets the job done. You don't need to purchase these exact shades (although these are my personal favorites) but I do promise that having one that will fit into each category will be all you need for the entire summer (aimed at you lipstick lovers out there, I realize some of you might be lip-gloss ladies).

So I thought this outfit was SUCH a great idea, I was totally all like "this look is super blog worthy!" Then I spent some real time in the sun in it and immediately regretted the decision. Hot sun + leather skirt = outfit of sweaty death. Not so fun, people. Not so fun.
The deets: J.Crew dress; Banana Republic necklace (old); Ivanka Trump heels; Revlon "Orange Flip" lipstick.
I have recently found that having a go-to LBWD (little black work dress) is just as important as having an LBD in your closet. Whenever I feel like a swamp creature that woke up on the wrong side of the bed, start doing the "I have nothing to wear" dance, and I just don't have an one ounce of energy to spend on putting something together that is socially acceptable, I can always count on the LBWD to make me feel like a functional member of society again. It's plain and simple and really easy to style with accessories (even I can do it). It's like my polished-person costume.
Me and my friend Katie went to The Styleliner event hosted by Oya restaurant this week in search of pretty and unique accessories (it's like a food truck filled with jewels and baubles instead of tacos and kabobs, awesome concept) and it was so much fun! We spent the evening sipping on peach martinis, and building fantasy arm parties. Check out the goodies we came across (sadly not all of them could come home with us).
The deets: J.Crew blouse; J.Crew Factory skirt; Ivanka Trump heels; Betsey Johnson necklace; Revlon "Certainly Red" lipstick; Essie "Lapis of Luxury" nails.
Remind my to wear this outfit if I ever decide to hit the campaign trail. I didn't realize it at the time, but I can't help but feel like I should be doing the Miss America wave from my balcony as I salute an American flag, eat apple pie, and toss a football all at the same time..or something. Go America!
The deets: J.Crew tee & bracelet; GAP jeans; Steven by Steve Madden heels; Michael Kors watch; Revlon "Love that Pink" lipstick.
Any one of my best friends can tell you that I basically have crazy high heels glued to my feet at all times. They are the only thing that makes me feel polished and complete being 5'2 with curves, so even at my most casual moments, I still like to throw on my five inch platforms to feel like myself. Meet the newest addition to my collection of totally impractical shoes that make my life brighter (literally..they're neon pink).
The deets: J.Crew dress (old); Banana Republic espadrilles (old) and belt; Michael Kors watch.
I know you're not supposed to wear white shoes before Memorial Day, but it just felt right. Went on a little day date with the boy (a.k.a. walking around our neighborhood and making him shop with me) and came away with all new bedding (score). We got home and were inspired to re-arrange our whole bedroom, it feels like a totally new place! Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend/Mother's Day, isn't he cute in that gingham button-down?
I noticed this little black number by C. Luce on the left while perusing Piperlime.com yesterday and couldn't help feel like I'd seen it somewhere before. Turns out, I did! The little white number is from Rachel Zoe's fall 2011 collection and is no longer available. Just thought you all should know you can have a Rachel Zoe inspired dress that usually runs from $350 on up for just $69. Pretty awesome.
I don't know about you guys but I am completely submerged in the "friends getting married" phase of life and while it's all rainbows and butterflies to participate in this really magical time and see everyone's family and friends come together to make these events the very best they can be...this party gets EXPENSIVE. My wallet gets the chills and jumps out of my purse in fear every time I walk by a Crate and Barrel or Victoria's Secret.
These little favors are the brainchild of my money saving thinking cap. We threw my friends shower on May fifth and just totally ran with the whole Cinco de Mayo theme. Complete with a taco bar, fancy margs, and homemade tequila sunrise mini cupcakes as favors. I got the boxes and ribbon from Michael's (the boy was sweet enough to assemble then while I was at work, that sweetums), and printed the labels on regular old envelope labels with some help from Microsoft Word. I think they turned out pretty adorable and they were a great option to having something made or ordering something online.
I think my plain white perfect fit J.Crew tee is among the top five favorite items in my closet. I mean really, white tee, where would I be with out you? When I can't find a top in literally any situation you swoop in with your crisp cottony goodness and save the day (except when I don't clean you fast enough). Sweat pants? Great, you're both cozy. Pencil Skirt? Sure, you go with every one I own. Jeans? You two are like old friends getting together each time I pair you up. So here's to you, white tee, for being so very versatile in a closet full of chaos. Cheers.
This is not the kind of post I usually do, but this morning I read something that really resonated with me and thought many of you might also relate in some way. I have a birthday coming up next month (26 to be exact) and I'm having some trouble with it 1. because of the rounding issue...(I keep saying to myself you would totally round me up to 30 if I were spare change!) and 2. because I often feel like maybe I should be further along than I am at this moment. I realize this is crazy and that all women around my age go thought it, but after visiting District Sparkle today and reading this old Glamour magazine list from 1977, I feel a little better about where I am in life and have some new ideas of what I think I need to achieve and get comfortable with in the next four years. Hope you love this as much as I did. xx.

15. Why they say life begins at 30.
For all you ladies that love tequila as much as I do, here's my new favorite spin on an old fave (and it doesn't hurt that said little spin requires zero skills, blending, mixing, or bartending knowledge at all whatsoever). Just put one scoop of lime sorbet or sherbert and one capful of your favorite tequila. Wait for it to melt together into one delicious marga-milkshake before drinking. Smooth, refreshing, and really fun all dressed up in umbrellas!
Side note: I finally made a Facebook page! I know, I'm probably the last bloggette on the planet to get with the program, but you can find the "like" button on the right sidebar :)
The deets: Lulu's dress; Ebay necklace; DV Dolce Vita heels; OPI "Rumple’s Wiggin."
I feel like such an 80's child in this dress. It totally reminds me of something I'd put on one of my Barbies for a date night with Ken back in the day, all I need is my pink convertible. I actually wore it for my friends bridal shower which was way more fun then hangin' with Barbie.
A friend commissioned me (okay she asked but commissioned sounds so much better) to make some mini cupcakes for a coworkers shower (all fancy petite four style, peeps). I literally turned my kitchen upside down trying to make four different miniature versions of my cupcakes in two hours. There air was clouded with powdered sugar like snoop dog just dropped by, the sprinkles organized a mutiny and disbursed themselves in every possible direction, and there was batter spattered in nooks and crannies that I don't even want to discuss...but I think they turned out super cute! Apparently mini-mint-chocolate-chip is a big hit.
