Oh it's going to be 90 and gorgeous this week? One week AFTER I'm at the shore when it's 55 and freezing? Cool. I'll just start bringing out all my neon clothes again (psh..like I ever put them away..) and celebrate during my lunch hour instead of the beach like I originally planned. Bring it on!
..The Steve Madden Woonderr Wedge
May 29, 2013 • cork currently coveting sandal Steve Madden t-strap wedge woonderr
I have been searching for the perfect t-strap cork wedge now for MONTHS I tell you. When my Ocean City trip approached and I still was wedgeless I did some last minute shopping and found these pretty ladies at the Steve Madden store in Pentagon City. They were basically the ONLY shoes there that were not on sale but I just had to have the Cognac ones. They are my new favorite pair! Hey there extra five inches of height...you and I are going to be great friends.
Hey there! I took a little break over the holiday weekend to do some important life things like sign a lease on a new place, go on a freezing Ocean City, MD vacation, and relax a little. We were celebrating my friend Allie's birthday while we were there so I of course brought along some sweet treats. I like to attempt to make each batch a little personal so when I remembered she loved these lemon blueberry cheesecake bars I made a while back I thought why not make it into a cupcake? Lemon cake, blueberry cream-cheese frosting, stuffed with blueberry preserves and a blueberry topper. E-mail me if you would like the cake recipe. Frosting is below.
Ingredients
1 package cream cheese
1 stick of butter
3.5 cups confectioners sugar
1/4 cup blueberry preserves
pinch of salt
Directions
Beat butter and cream cheese until well combined. Add salt and preserves until smooth. Slowly add the confectioners sugar cup by cup until all of it has been added in and your frosting is complete.

I don't know if it's because I'm moving in a few weeks and I have home products on the brain or what, but this little "Vestige Lipstick Holder" from Anthropologie is just the cutest thing. The perfect way to keep your seasonal favorites out in a beautifully organized way. I know I'm always looking for the one shade I can't seem to find, so aside from being super chic, it would also be totally helpful!
..New Essie Favorites for Summer
May 22, 2013 • Beauty Essie In the cabana lights MAMA Nail Polish Saturday Disco Fever
I am a true Essie fan through and through. Their colors are always really fun and right on vibe with the season. That being said, I have to admit that I kinda get sick of my old tried and trues. While not all of these shades are new to the shelves, I discovered three new (to me) colors that really feel fresh.
While at the local nail salon I fell in love with the pretty pink shade "Lights." It's bright and summery but not highlighteresque. The orange, "Saturday Disco Fever," is a neonish orange that manages not to scream "Jersey Shore," and I picked up "In the Cabana" on a whim at my local drug store and it quickly became my new number one. It's a really great alternative to the ever popular "Mint Candy Apple" or Turquoise and Caicos." Is it normal to have this much extensive knowledge about nail polish? I think I might have a problem..

Being in stuffy work wear can sometimes be a drag and make me feel roughly a million years old so I keep things feeling a bit more youthful with fun earrings and a side braid to balance the vanilla taste of my black pencil skirt and peep toes. Spicy, but totally acceptable. Right? Right.

Last summer I was in a wedding for one of my besties and was given the freedom to buy whatever nude shoes I wanted to match the bridesmaid dress. I obviously tasked myself with finding the perfect pair that was fancy enough to rock in a wedding but also a small reflection of my personality (as you don't have much room for personal style in matching dresses). I went months with out finding anything that jumped out at me and finally found these previously loved (let's just say they're "vintage") beauties on eBay like literally three days before the big day. I still love them and wear them all the time at work. What a win of a purchase.
One of my favorite pairs of summer shoes are my DV by Dolce Vita hot pink "Archers" last seen here. I just love the gold metal detailing that makes a really basic design just a touch more glam. DV is such a great brand for summer sandals and actually isn't too pricey (starting at about $70). Want to know what's even better? Target totally ripped off almost ALL of their designs and is selling them all for under $23. Who's making a Target trip tonight? [insert raised hand emoticon here]
YOU GUYS. This random "I don't have anything in the kitchen" sauce was the bomb and I'm not afraid to brag about it. This was my first time even attempting to make tomato sauce so I can't say if I used all the correct traditional ingredients but I swear I could have licked my plate and it was so simple! I had three tomatos in that I needed to use up so I concocted this plan and went to town.
Ingredients
Three tomatoes, chopped (I used the ones on the vine from the grocery store, not sure what they are called).
1 large clove of garlic, minced.
Extra virgin olive oil (very very generous amount - like three or four times around the pan).
1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon butter (optional - but I read somewhere that all great sauces start with olive oil and butter so I used a bit)
Directions
Heat extra virgin olive oil and butter on medium heat and add garlic. Let garlic cook for 30 seconds or so and add in tomato and seasonings. Let cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Done! I told you it was easy. I served with whole wheat penne and a little parmesan cheese but I probably could have just eaten it by itself.

May 9, 2013 • bling Chandelier earring currently coveting Kate Spade Stella and Dot turquoise
Last Sunday a nice woman from my building hosted a Stella & Dot party in the lounge area. I was just coming back from a brunch with the ladies and decided to peruse the selection. Low and behold these pretty blue dangleys (that's a word right?) that immediately made me think of the Kate Spade statement earrings out right now. Both are gorgeous and just the little bit of color and fanciness needed for accessorizing in the summer months.

The deets: J.Crew dress, hat, and cardigan; Banana Republic wedges (old); Francesca's necklace; Lancome "Wannabe" lipstick.
I know you guys are probably already tired of my constant Gold Cup yammering via social media and yesterday's post, but when you have a large hat incorporated into your outfit like it aint no thang, you document it. I have to say, I wish I could wear one of these babies every day. It totally sky rocketed my lady-likeness/mystique. Can we collectively make this a thing or like get some more hat-appropriate events on the cal? Pretty please?

If you follow me on twitter or instagram, you know I was hanging out at the Gold Cup this weekend. I had THE BEST TIME EVER. Everyone was tasked with pitching in some kind of food for the group and I of course volunteered cupcakes. I made classic vanilla cake with cream cheese icing. Pink dye with white pearls, preppy plaid pastel baking cups, and a fondant horse shoe were all the details that I felt were absolutely necessary.
To make the horse shoes I rolled fondant into little logs (about the size of a pretzel stick) and then bent them into "U" shapes. I then pinched the tops of the "U" to get the fatter part and flattened them out with a rolling pin. Lastly, I used a pen cap to imprint little dots for texture. Time consuming? Yes. Worth it? Ehh maybe. Adorable? Totally!
..The HANA Professional Hair Straightener
May 5, 2013 • Beauty Flat iron Hair straightener HANA Professional HANA salon MAMA Misikko review
As I have previously mentioned on this here blog, I have a bit of a lion's mane that needs to be tamed each day (or at least on the days I try to look presentable to the world). Owning a flat iron is as essential to life as breathing for me, so when Misikko challenged me to a review on the HANA Professional flat iron, I knew I was the right girl for the job. When the package came in, I was pleasantly surprised to find all kinds of EXTRA adorable goodies in there such as an eyelash curler, fun eye shadow, a felt case, and a rubber pad to rest the hot tool on. They were all wrapped up in polka-dot bows, faux flowers, and just about the cutest packaging I have ever seen. SUCH a bonus! I can see how this would make a fun gift. A+ for customer service.
Back to my review - as a life long CHI worshiper, I expected the HANA to be of the same quality if not a little less impressive. Boy, was I wrong. I can honestly say this magical hair tool is even better. It made my hair smooth, sleek, and shiny in way less time and time is definitely something I could use some more of in the mornings. It feels softer and healthier after swapping it in for a couple weeks now. Five stars people. This thing dominated the great and powerful frizz that lives on my head. The proof is in the pudding.

I know I just rocked this blazer in a post like five minutes ago, but I keep it real on this blog, and I totally rock my favorite pieces over and over until I get sick of them. Kind of like when you have a favorite song and you listen to it on repeat until you hate it. Do you guys do that too or am I alone in my weirdness? Anyway, I will be doing all kinds of fun things this weekend including cupcake baking, out of town friends, and the Gold Cup. Hope you all have a good one!
..White Denim
May 2, 2013 • AG Adriano Goldschmied currently coveting GAP J.Crew White Denim White jeans
I am coveting white denim this week and have been scouring the internet and local shopping malls for the perfect pair. GAP is usually my go-to place for denim since the cut is accommodating for girls with badonkadonks like mine (and super affordable), however, I am trying to break out of my same brand shell so I went ahead and tried on the J.Crew ones in the store last weekend. They actually fit great! My dilemma is that my all time favorite pair of jeans that I can remember from life were AG Adriano Goldschmied's that lasted me FOREVER so I am inclined to go and check them out too. So torn! What to do? Do you guys have a pair of white jeans you would recommend? Help a sister out!
Currently Coveting is also on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Bloglovin, and Pinterest.
