I had the very very best Saturday last weekend (and this is what I wore). My sister was in town visiting and we met a bunch of my favorite people for brunch at Beacon (which I would definitely recommend for any ladies that dabble in bottomless mimosa Saturdays) followed by college football at the new sports bar in Clarendon - Bracket Room, then came a little rooftop action, a pizza refuel, and we ended the night my favorite way - tone deaf karaoke style. I wish I could do it over and over again with the exception of the insane foot pain that comes after a 12 hour day of prancing, dancing, and singing.

Tis the season to dust of your old trench coat and get acquainted again. The one I currently have has been through a couple seasons with me already (and has a belt loop that's holding on by a safety pin) which has had me toying with the idea of getting a new one. Here are some of the options I like best. One is a classic, one has a little unexpected pop of color, and the other has chic-y chic chic leather sleeves (which is something I totally dig).
My sister is town for the weekend and I am taking tomorrow off to fully indulge in sibling shenanigans. I hope everyone has a happy weekend!

This isn't the most glamorous version of myself, but it is the most common. Most weekends in the coming months you will find me in a combination of everything you see here. Cozy long sleeve tops, jeans, my glasses (which I need for driving, watching my trashy television shows, and seeing things that are more than 10 ft away from me), and a PSL in hand. I have yet to break out my favorite boots because I am trying my hardest to hold out until October. For me, that is the REAL indicator that Summer has tipped his hat and blown us an "until next time" goodbye kiss and chilly Autumn has officially taken sovereignty.
On a totally unrelated note, I finished "Gone Girl" yesterday and you know how when someone really really hypes up a movie and then you watch it and are a little underwhelmed? Well that happened and now need a new read. Suggestions are welcome!
I am the definition of a dabbler. I dabble in makeup, I dabble in hair, I dabble in art, I dabble in baking. As I do not call any of these things my real "profession" (and I still think I am figuring that out every day) I don't have any creative outlet available to me at my current job, so I take on many other "jobs" outside of the office. When my cousin recently got engaged I thought, "why not add one more thing to that list?" And so I spent all day Saturday trying my hand at one more dabble, engagement photography. I can't wait to share some more of my favorites with you guys, but will wait until their save the dates have gone out as to not spoil the surprise for any family members that read this little old blog. Cheers to always being up for a new adventure, whether that be marriage, or marriage photography.

Last weekend I attended a beauty breakfast at Neiman Marcus hosted by the lovely Kara Manos of Politics of Pretty (recap here). During the event she showcased her current fall product favorites and these lipsticks made the cut. I had never heard of them prior to the event but am I a HUGE fan now. They are the first "CC" lipsticks to hit the market and they pack all the luxurious moisture, shine, and pigment they promise. I may even like them better than my all time favorite "Rouge in Love" series from Lancome. You MUST try them!

Well just call me your fairy fall fashion god mother, because I am doing JUST THAT, RIGHT NOW with the gorgeous brigade of fellow bloggers below. The air is cold, fantasy football is on, I broke down and ordered my first pumpkin spice latte (on Friday the 13th, it just seemed appropriate), and I baked some seasonal spiced cookies over the weekend (more on that later in the week). I feel like the summer months just flew by. Wasn't it just a couple of weeks ago that I was running around Ocean City over Memorial Day Weekend? Didn't I just celebrate my June birthday the other day? I guess not. Time seems to slow down for me a bit it September. It's a nice change to the fast pace of the Summer months, I spend more energy reflecting, and there is the universal scent of renewal in the air. I know the official new year starts in January, but I feel the real beginning happens now, so I hope everyone has a happy one.

How great are these printed clutches? I think they would make a nice spicy addition to all of that black and white you have been binging out on (or is that just me?). The camo one is by local designer Gigee Marie, which in my opinion makes it even better! One of the great things about clutches is that it doesn't matter what the weather is to rock them. I don't care if it's "fall" in the fashion world - my iphone says it's going to be 90 degrees today, so about those leather pants, jackets, and boots... um, no. I am going to need a few more weeks and about 25 less degrees to get excited about those things.

Remember when I told you I was going to be chatting fashion at the Northern Virginia Magazine kick off Fashion NoVA event? Well this is what I wore (please excuse the flat hair and wrinkles in my dress we were sitting in the sun and I did sweat a bit...totally because of the heat and not at all because I was super nervous to get up in front of a crowd of people and speak, I swear..). I also took over the Fairfax Corner instagram account for the day, so if you would like to see some pictures from the event, mosey on over to their FB page and check out this album. I highly suggest you come out to the next event this Saturday at Pentagon City! It really proved to be a fantastically fun day!
..Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake Bars
September 9, 2013 • cheesecake Eats and Sweets lemon blueberry recipe recipe post tylers ultimate
If you guys haven't already, you must try this Tyler's Ultimate recipe. I saw it on the Food Network a few years ago and have since kept it in my rotation of favorite desserts. It's sweet, fresh, creamy, and tart all in one cheesecake-y bar, and who doesn't get excited about homemade graham cracker crust? I personally feel lemon and blueberry were made for each other as I have experimented with it in other recipes like this cupcake one. I guess this is just my way of holding on to the summer for as long as possible. I am just not quite ready for pumpkin flavor to take over my life (even though when the time comes I could never get sick of it).

..White Peach Bundt Cake
September 4, 2013 • bundt cake cake Eats and Sweets orchard peach picking recipe recipe post white peach
This is the story of how one little peach became a cake.
It was the perfect sunny Sunday afternoon in late summer. Four friends drove down to Delaplane, VA for some fruit picking and wine tasting. Upon their arrival to the orchard they were told the regular peaches were all plucked out, but the magical, more expensive cousin of the peach...the white peach...was in peak season, so they went fourth. The rows and rows of trees bursting with ripe fruit were quite the sight. You could smell the sweet peachy sugar in the air and the branches were just high enough for this 5'2 girl to reach them all on her own. A full peck of decidedly perfect white peaches were picked then paid for. As we proudly hauled our ten pounds of peaches to the trunk of the car with two arms we asked the farmer what the shelf life of these amazing peach cousins were and he answered....one day.

WELL WELL WELL. What do you do when you have your weight in peaches and one day to use them? You first eat some in the car on the way to the adjacent vineyard and then you come up with some weird shiz, like white peach bundt cake. The end.
Ingredients
2 cups chopped white peaches (about five)
2 sticks butter
2 cups white sugar
3 cups flour
4 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp cloves
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
1. Heat oven to 325. Butter your bundt pan and set aside. Mix butter, sugar, and vanilla together until nice and fluffy then add one egg into the mixture at a time.
2. In a separate bowl sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and spices. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the the wet. When the batter is fully combined stir in your peaches.
3. Pour batter into bundt pan and bake for 1 hour.
