Never a fan of the "costume in a bag" route, I opted for something a little less obvious this year (on real Halloween that is - I dressed up as crazy Amanda Bynes last weekend for the DC 101 party at Clarendon Ballroom which is a whole other story). The dress is just a weeee bit tighter than I had imagined when I ordered it (even ordering a size up - I just never seem to get the euro size conversion right at ASOS it either ends up being too big or too small), so I guess I'm a sassier skeleton than originally intended. I NEVER usually show this much leg (because frankly they are my least favorite body part) but I have no plan B so Skankeletonville, here I come.

1. This is the FUNNIEST Halloween video of kids reactions when their candy gets swapped out for healthier options. #poopypinata
2. This little quote by Julia Child really just describes my feelings on all gatherings. See some of my other favorites on this pinterest board.
3. How cute are these little monogram earrings? They would be a great little every day staple earring.
4. A woman named Queenie Liao did THE coolest art photography with her sleeping baby. She used everyday items you find around your house to create each of the scenes.

After taking home a boatload of freshly picked apples from Carter Mountain Orchard down in Charlottesville, I thought about all the great things I could make with my pickings. The problem is that many of those things are sweet and I was in the mood for something savory. Taking a nod from my favorite food truck (The Big Cheese) that pairs Fugi apples with brie, I decided to grill up one of my Granny Smiths with some honey dijon mustard, Vermont cheddar cheese, and thick cut bacon (seriously who doesn't love bacon?). It was out of this world delish, I suggest you give it a try. It's an easy spin on an old fav.

Halloween is upon us and I know I've got all kinds of costume parties coming up so I thought I would round up my favorite DIY costume projects from years past in case you were in need of a little inspiration. I'm going solo this year, but as you can tell I have been a big fan of the girl group variety. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

The deets: GAP camo skinnies; Nordstrom tee; Rachel Zoe heels; Elizabeth and James sunnies; Piperlime clutch; Kate Spade earrings; necklace c/o My Jewel Candy; ASOS and Anthropologie bracelets; Michael Kors watch; OPI "Big Apple Red" nails; Giorgio Armani lipstick in "Four Hundred."
I am very excited to share an extra special post with you guys today. Basically, you get a three for one, which is the best thing ever. After a couple blogger friends and I realized we all had the same jeans we thought 1. that we all obviously have good taste (duh) and 2., why not collab on a post? I love how you can take these jeans and do a million things with them depending on your personal style. I went with a slouchy tee and edgy details, Alissa of Feeling Good Style went more classy with chic heels and and a blouse, and Alison of Chain Strap Purse went cozy and polished (try not to be too jealous of her amazing head of hair). Make sure you check out all three looks (preview at the bottom).

1. How cute are these fabulous gold confetti napkins? Perfect little detail for any upcoming occasion!
2. I loved this round up of French beauty secrets on Refinery 29. It is actually quite a bit of information and tips I had never heard of before, which if I'm bring honest, I wasn't expecting.
3. This girl is the mastermind behind my blog's web design (Jessica of Creative Index) and an all around great person. She does fabulous work if you are currently looking for a graphic designer but also has a really gorgeous/inspiring blog herself. Check it out.
4. I was really into this article on why auto-companies can't sell cars to millennials (like myself and many of you). I can really relate to almost every point this guy makes, so car salesman out there - please take note.
..Red Velvet Pancakes
October 22, 2013 • breakfast cream cheese drizzle Eats and Sweets recipe recipe post red velvet pancakes
One of my favorite local watering holes (A-Town for all you Arlington folk) is not only walking distance from my apartment, but one of those places where debauchery is probable, accepted, and encouraged. It also happens to be right next to a 24 hour IHOP, so needless to say, when A-Town gets my patronage, IHOP usually benefits too. One of these nights I happened to have the best pancakes of my life - a special that was happening - red velvet pancakes. I have since tried to go back and order these delicious creations but alas, they are no longer on the menu. After going through all five stages of grief, I decided to try making them myself. I followed this recipe and obviously opted for the cream cheese drizzle instead of using syrup because, duh.

The deets: J.Crew Factory skirt and top (similar); Ray-Ban sunnies (prescription); Lancome "Pretty Burgundy" lipstick; necklace c/o My Jewel Candy; Rebecca Minkoff bag; Fornash bangle; ALDO heels; OPI "Big Apple Red" nails; earrings c/o Giando Massi (now 68% off!); Michael Kors watch.
If I have a lipstick shade that perfectly matches something I am wearing, I can't help but wear it. Be honest with me, is this a mom thing? I can't tell but I likes it. Also - how pretty are all the leaves finally falling to the ground? It's starting to look a lot like fall around here which has me SUPER excited about the apple picking trip I have planned for this weekend (even though it's only Monday). Bring it on!

1. Thinking of turning one of my mason jars into this sparkly vase this weekend as a fun DIY project (probably with gold glitter instead of silver).
2. If you haven't heard of it yet, Joss & Main is like THE best online shop for chic interiors that aren't super pricey. How pretty is this printed pillow case?
3. I am on the hunt for a nice black slouchy beanie and this one is at the top of my list.
4. Liar liar pants on fire! Tips and tricks from a professional on how to spot lies here (also - I am obsessed with Ted Talks, I binge out on them from time to time because I can't get enough).
For my first amateur photography shoot (I say first because I'd love to try again - reach out if interested) I attempted engagement photos for my cousin and her fiance. It was a really fun experience and they were very cooperative little models! I loved working with them because they were so very happy to be there. You could tell they were both equally excited to capture a little bit of their love story in time and they sure didn't have to try very hard at making gorgeous images! Their love and excitement shined through no matter the setting. There were so many great shots throughout the day but I just wanted to share some of my personal favorites with you guys. These may not be the most posy-traditional snaps we got (and we did get plenty of those), but they are the images to me that capture the most honest tiny moments that seem to be between just the two of them. Barely-there kisses, standing eyes closed just for a second in sheer peaceful happiness, true admiration of a beautiful musical gift, a quick moment of silliness, and smiles that beam so bright, you just for a second want to smile too are just a few of the things I liked capturing most. Can't wait to stand beside them on their wedding day!
