I strongly believe that everyone should have a go-to way to unwind. It is so important to take time to recenter yourself and relax after you have been feeling burnt out on life. I had a pretty rough week cleaning out my closet to make room for the boy (I feel like I have reached hoarder status - holding onto clothes that no longer even fit for memories I made in them). Two donated garbage bags of clothes, a couple of tears, and a ton of additions to Poshmark later, I needed to de-stress.
My personal happy place consists of a freshly cleaned house, a cup of tea with honey, the most recent issue of People Style Watch, and a floral or clean scented candle filling the air with calming fragrance. Even just describing it here in this post is making me feel calmer.

I recently discovered Southern Belle Candles, which is a woman owned company based right in Raleigh, NC. All of their scents are adorably inspired by southern culture like "Mint Julep," and "Georgia Peach." I am admittedly a candle snob and usually only buy from a couple of brands and stick to my favorite fragrances within them, but these candles are amazing. This "High Cotton" one (c/o) smells fresh & clean but not in that weird laundry way that some other brands do. It also has the perfect amount of potency, filling the air but not over powering. The lovely packaging doesn't hurt either, I am a huge sucker for anything with a bow on it. Lucky for you the sweet people over at Southern Belle Candles are offering 20% off with code Erin20! Show them some love and enjoy!
The deets: Express blazer (similar); J.Crew button down (plain version) and skirt; ALDO heels (similar); Steve Madden bag; Bebe scarf; Lancome "Midnight Rose" lipstick.
Another walk to work, another layered look to battle the freezing wind. I don't know about you but as cute as this little scarf is, I am so ready to put it away and not see it again until next winter. ENOUGH WITH THE COLDS, MOTHER NATURE. We are headed to a state of collective grumpiness that we may NEVER come back from! Give us those B vitamins! Hot pink blazers obviously worn in effort to will some sun rays this way.
If you live in the DMV and have not yet heard of ScratchDC, you seriously have been missing out. I can not say enough great things about this rockstar of a local company. They basically make cooking chef worthy meals a breeze by sending you absolutely everything you need to prepare it (they even include salt and pepper, people!) all portioned out along with step by step instructions right to your door (home or office). Did I mention they also use locally grown ingredients AND tell you exactly where they came from on the back of your instructions? I know. Like I said, rockstars.
For our meal this week we picked the avocado pesto pasta with garlic shrimp and cherry tomatoes. First of all, let me reiterate that they make this process FOOL PROOF. As in they even let me know I'd have five minutes to spare between putting the pasta in the pot to boil and throwing the shrimp on to cook and suggested I go throw on my comfy clothes in the instructions. How adorable? One bundle fed me and my boyfriend with a little to spare (although we at that spare too because...deliciousness).
If you would like to get your paws on an amazingly delectable little date night in a box just go to ScratchDC.com and get your orders in. They post the next weeks menu every Friday. AND as a bonus for reading this little blog you can get 15% off with code "CurrentlyCoveting" through the end of April! You're Welcome.
Last weekend was my cousins bridal shower. Me (maid of honor - whoop whoop) and the matron of honor decided to throw her a traditional afternoon tea style shower complete with a gorgeous silver antique water dispenser, mini finger sandwiches, mini cupcakes, (and mini everything for that matter - everything is cuter in mini version!), adorable petit-fours, dozens of kinds of tea to choose from, and floral lollipop favors that were tied up with a personalized ribbon placed in a vase as if they were a real flower arrangement (such a fun idea from my aunt!). My grandmother has this AMAZING vintage tea cup/saucer collection which were absolutely perfect for the event. She even let each of her granddaughters (there are a lot of us) take home a cup to keep which I thought was such a sweet sentiment. Those of you who know me well know my heart is in party planning, it was so nice to be able to get back into something I love! I wish my little city size place were big enough to host gatherings like this one more often. I think she had such a great time! I love the photo below as it shows how shes totally overwhelmed with all the love/prezzies in the room!
The deets: Joe's Jeans (similar), Tahari tee scored via Marshalls (similar); Betsy Johnson heels; Guess jacket; Elizabeth and James sunnies; Massi earrings and necklace c/o; Orange Flip lipstick; Michael Kors watch.
To say I have been living in this insanely comfortable silky soft striped tee would almost be an understatement. It's been my go to for work to pair with skirts and cropped pants, jeans, stretch pants on my day off, you name it and I will have a reason to wear this shirt. It's beginning to be one of those things where I will do laundry just to have it available to me - crazy talk, I know. Totally goes against my vow to only do wash when I run out of undergarments, aka everything I believe in.
Anyway I am off to the land of Atlantic City to meet up with some friends for a weekend of debauchery. It's very much needed after spending all week couped up on my couch drinking smoothies and eating yogurt from having my wisdom teeth removed. Ugh, talk about cabin fever, bring on the fun!
1. A little girl that makes THE MOST AWESOME paper dresses.
2. Nineteen different edible shot-glasses...YES. I'd like to meet the genius who thought of milk and cookie shots.
3. A quiz to see how much of each side of your brain you use. Mine came out right down the middle (53/47).
4. Another obviously more intellectual quiz to see what kind of cat you are. I got the fat indoor cat...yikes. Like mother like cat-daughter I guess.
The deets: J.Crew button down and skirt; ALDO heels (similar); Rebecca Minkoff bag; Ray-Ban (prescription) sunnies; Massi necklace and earrings c/o; Lancome "Violette Croquette" lipstick; Michael Kors watch.
Thank goodness this whole "monochrome" thing is a thing right now. It comes in quite handy on days when I have little to no energy to put something together for work. Just grab two things in the same hue and you are good to go. I hope this never goes away. This snow is kinda gorge in these photos but I have to say I am super over the daily appearance of it and very ready for the blistering sun to beat down on my face once again. At least I have a fun AC trip with besties that I don't get to see often planned for this weekend (hopefully I'll be able to capture some moments to share with you here) to keep me warm and fuzzy for now.
