Welp, looks like I am not the only one who spent the weekend making Cinco de Mayo themed cuppy cakes! While I'm sure miss Emily's are fabulous, here is an easier recipe for some super delicious, alcohol free Margarita Cupcakes. As these were made for a fiesta themed bridal shower (also see tequila sunrise cupcake party favors), I thought it best to not get the little cousins and grandma buzzed without them knowing. Cheers!
Ingredients for cake
1 box white cake mix
1 10 oz can of frozen Bacardi margarita mix (thawed)
2 tablespoons veggie oil
3 egg whites
1 tablespoon lime zest
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lime juice
Mix all ingredients together until well combined. Scoop into lined cupcake pans about 3/4 full and bake on 350 degrees for 19 minutes.
Ingredients for frosting
1 8 oz package cream cheese
1 stick butter
3 cups confectioners sugar
1 tablespoon lemon zest
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lime juice
Pinch of salt
Mix butter and cream cheese together until fluffy. Add in salt, lemon zest, and lime juice, then one cup of sugar at a time until creamy. I sprinkled them with light green sugar and stuck little straws in for the "drink" effect but that is totally optional. A tiny lime wedge would also be adorable. Enjoy!

I was out at Fairfax Corner last weekend for part of a really fun upcoming project that I can't wait to share with you. While out there me and the boy decided to give Ozzie's a try. The food was delish and the weather could not have been more perfect which made for a nice little Saturday. I normally detest wearing flats in public (it's kinda my personal nightmare) because they make me look really stumpy and emphasize my short stalky legs, but as I get older and wiser I realize sometimes it's more important to be comfortable than to appear a tiny bit slimmer. It's hard to enjoy every moment of your day when your brain is constantly going back to how much those shoes pinch your feet, #amiright?

Just a little something to brighten your day up here. I have been stalking the PLV "Shanna" for over a year now ever since I saw them on all the ShopBop models a couple of seasons ago. I really wanted them in pink but love them in white for summer! Who doesn't need a pair of adorable white lace-ups in their life? So cute for all the breezy dresses I have in my multiple fantasy-land 50 item long shopping carts all over the web. Designer look for under $40? Done and done!

You guys. I got to be part of one of the coolest blogger projects of all time (check out this behind the scenes vid). Shell B Cheri's brainchild #StyledbyShellBCheri came to life a couple of weekends ago and the experience was pretty great (seriously check out that hashtag there is tons of great content). She asked each of us (fourteen bloggers in total) to pick out a problem item (or just something you wanted her to style up) from our closet and she would come on over and work her magic on it. My item was this pair of Shoemint heels. For those of you who know what Shoemint is, I forgot to "skip the month" and ended up just picking these shoes out because they were the cutest ones on the site at the time and I had a credit sitting there. One year later I had only broken them out once or twice. Something about the navy and black and laces just didn't work with much of my closet and they were collecting dust on my shoe rack. Enter Shell B and this outfit was born.
It just wouldn't be fair for me to showcase what an amazing job Shell B did in our style sesh with out sharing the entire group's looks. Check out the other amazing DMV area bloggers and their experiences with the #StyledbyShellBCheri project, their links are below!

I recently discovered a super unique jewelry line called Manic Trout, which designer Sierra Bailey describes as a "fusion of edginess and vintage elegance" (a.k.a. the perfect combo - I want to use that to describe EVERYTHING I love now). Sierra uses all kinds of gorgeous fancy things like gemstones, vintage textiles, chandelier crystals, brass animals, and Czech glass to make some pretty awesome stuff. My favorites were part of her "Statement Critter Necklace" line because I love animals and think they are fun to incorporate into your accessories (and life in general, obviously). I am very drawn to elephants recently, so naturally I had to have this adorable brass elephant necklace that has what I have decided is a mama and baby. So cute! Also, you should check out this totally unrelated elephant adorableness.
BONUS: You can get your own little critter necklace (or anything else you dig from the Manic Trout site) for 20% off with code "currentlycoveting" at checkout. Enjoy!

So this is an outfit that I wore to work last week. You all know how much I like incorporating color into my "professional" wardrobe so nothing new to see here. Just one girl pretty happy about the fact that the time has come to breakout the melon colored skirts and lipsticks once more.
So you guys must know how much I love my "Rouge in Love" lipstick by Lancome by now (I basically wear "377 Midnight Rose" in every post). They recently also came out with a lip balm that is equally amazing! My favorite color in the collection is called "Urban Ballet" and I am obsessed. It looks like this crazy neon color and at first is a little scary but it swipes on totally sheer. It reminds me of a really luxurious, more pigmented version of my favorite Rosebud Salve. Perfect for days when you want to go minimal but still look put together (that I swear I just woke up like this look).
Seen below I have on Clinique's High Impact Curling mascara in black (one of my favorites, takes the eyelash curler step out of my routine on days where I just don't have the time), Nars "Laguna" bronzer, and Lancome's "Urban Ballet." Quick and simple combo which has come in handy when I go to the gym during my lunch hour with no built in primp time. Try it!
