The deets: The Seam Designs slouchy beanie; Target cardi; LOFT dress; J.Crew boots (similar); Steve Madden bag (other great quilted bag options).
Don't put away all your summer items just yet! You can still use some of those dresses by throwing a cardi, boots, and cozy hat on with them, which is what I did last weekend for a haunted forest trip. We went to Markoff's by the way, which was like really effing scary. Happy Halloween!
..Funfetti Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies!
October 29, 2014 • Eats and Sweets Funfetti Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe post
I don't know about you but growing up my favorite cake/cupcake combo was always funfetti cake with chocolate frosting. Hands down. Even as someone who loves to bake and make things from scratch I can say it's probably still my favorite because the scent alone floods my brain with happy birthday memories.
I thought recently, why not try to put all that reminiscent deliciousness into a cookie? It's easier, takes less time, and is just a lot more portable (I brought these to a party last Sunday and they were a big hit). Also, these are like SO easy. So go head and make you some goodness.
Ingredients recipe adapted from here
1 box funfetti cake mix
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
8 oz cream cheese (1 package)
1 egg
1.5 cups Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips (spring for something good!)
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth then beat in the egg. Gradually add in the funfetti mix until you create a dough. Fold in your chocolate chips until evenly distributed in the dough. Cover and refrigerate for an hour or so (until its stiff and cold) then roll the cookies into 1.5 inch balls. Coat them in some powdered sugar and bake on 350 for 12 minutes.

1. How cute and festive is this Halloween candy cake?
2. I have been searching for some basic brown suede booties and I think these are the winners.
3. This NARS brow brush is THE BOMB. I got it a couple months ago and love it more and more every day. The hairs are tougher and harder than a normal brow brush so it combs them as you fill them in. Genius.
4. I seriously LOVE the cookie butter from Trader Joe's. When they came out with the cookie butter + chocolate swirl version I was like YES. Now you are telling me I can make it myself out of ANY cookie? Trouble.
The deets: F21 beanie & boots (old, other great buckled boot & beanie options); Old Navy tank; Target hoodie; GAP vest (old, cute fur hood version) & jeans; Steve Madden bag; Clinique "A Different Grape" lipstick.
Remember last week when I told you I had a fabulous night out drinking & dancing with my amigos? Well this is me the morning after. Sometimes you just got to power through that late twenties hangover, put a beanie on that day old do, swipe on some lipstick, and find your coziest hoodie in order to get your butt to brunch and look somewhat presentable.
..Houndstooth
October 24, 2014 • currently coveting Fashion Forever 21 Herschel Supply Co. JOA MICHAEL Michael Kors style
Pouch // Skirt // Case // Sweater // Shoes // Bag // Scarf // Dress
I don't know why, but houndstooth print screams "class act" to me despite the bizarre moniker. I love a really bold pattern and this one is great because it's sophisticated enough to rock to the office since it's a classic and it matches everything else you own. Black and white make any other color look more vibrant and better dontcha think?
The deets: Daniel Rainn top (similar); J.Crew skirt (similar); Nordstrom hat (similar); BCBGeneration booties (other open toe bootie options); Clinique "A Different Grape" lipstick; J.Crew necklace (this one is similar colors and on sale); similar clutch; bracelet c/o INPINK.
I wore this outfit when I was up in Connecticut for my boyfriends birthday last month. His twin goes to grad school at Yale (and obviously they share a birthday) so we visited for the weekend. We had the most crazy gorgeous weather and we actually had so much fun. I got to experience New Haven style pizza, meet lots of extended family members, and hit the town at night. We ended up at a bar called the Russian Lady that was this cool pub/club. Who know Yale kids could party so hard?

Sometimes when it's finally Saturday and you have plans to go out with some friends you just gotta let your inner rockstar come out. It's nice to ditch the pencil skirt and really glam it up once and a while, which is exactly what I did for a night of drinks, dancing, and a really great live music at a local watering hole.
..Cozy Sweater Four Ways
October 17, 2014 • 525 American BB Dakota cable knit chunky sweaters currently coveting Fashion JOA shopbop style sweaters
As the temps begin to drop, I start going into straight cold-prep beast mode. One item everyone needs in their arsenal is a neutral colored cozy knit sweater. Of course you can pick one up basically anywhere this time of year but I am a girl that likes to take traditional things and put a spin on them. For this reason, I am really digging Shopbop's selection of chunky knits with a twist. Here are four ways to make this basic piece seem fresh.
1. Luxurious: 525 America Egyptian Cable Turtleneck
2. Edgy: JOA Cable Knit with Zipper Detail
3. Casual: BB Dakota Hooded Cable Sweater
..Four Favorites: Fall Sweets
October 16, 2014 • apple pie baking Cupcakes fall Four Favorites sweets
I figured it's officially the season of pumpkin spice, (seriously they should change the name from "Autumn" to "PUMPKIN EXPLOSION IN YOUR FACE"), so why not share four of my favorite fall recipes that I can attest are delicious and feasible.
1. Apple Pie Crumble, WHAT! So good. Turned this non apple pie-loving girl into a true American.
2. Three Ingredient Pumpkin Chip Cookies. So easy your girlfriend that uses her oven for sweater storage could do it (how I miss SATC, sigh).
3. Pumpkin Chip Bundt Cake. Be an office hero and make this cake. It's one of those weird things (like really, a bundt?) that actually tastes like heaven.
4. Fall Foliage Cupcakes. AKA pumpkin cinnamon cream cheese cupcakes, but still, yum.
The deets: Old Navy top; ALDO shoes (similar) Francesca's necklace (this one is pretty); Elizabeth and James sunnies (25% off with code FAMILY25); J.Crew skirt.
1. Like I have been saying, Old Navy has been killing it recently. Just another top that I grabbed, this one is now less than $10!
2. If you were ever going to splurge on these cute E+J cat eye sunnies (or any designer sunnies for that matter), now is your chance! Shopbop has them on sale for 25% off! I don't normally shop there, it's a little out of my everyday shopping budget, but it's wonderful during the sales for investment pieces you can wear all the time.
3. I have said it before and I'll say it again, if I had a signature style it would be this: mostly neutral with a pop of color. It just feels like me.
So when I shook things up here a couple weeks ago by putting up a more opinionated, wordy post, you guys responded really well! So I guess am going to start having more of them around here. This weeks topic: authenticity.
Okay, rewind. It's hard to just jump right in here so let me back up.
I've started to feel a lack of inspiration lately. The blogs and websites that inspired me to start one of my own in the first place have recently fallen into a place of...what's the word I'm looking for..
...sameness?
photoshoped-ness?
"trust me I'm a self-proclaimed expert-ness"?
"look at all this free-stuff-ness?"
"you should totally buy this-ness?"
I have started to notice this "peony-macaron-bright-gold-sparkly-BRANDING-BRANDING-BRANDING-LOOK AT ME I'M A BRAND!" wash over everything and while some of that was once was fresh and beautiful to me and I get why it is sometimes necessary, it basically induces an internal cringe. Maybe I follow too many blogs, boutiques, and websites now for my own good and I am simply inundating myself, I don't know, I just keep waiting to feel something from them again aside from that knee-jerk eye roll.
Sigh. I think I just said the thing you're not supposed to say as a blogger.

I have never been the kind of girl that likes to share gripes on this blog (duh - it's called currently coveting, not currently grinding my gears), but I am coming to a point in life where in-authenticity is annoying, boring, and not worth my time. I don't need my life to look like a magazine article, and personally, not to offend, but I don't have any desire to see yours through that lens either. It's fine if you dig that, but I read blogs to peek into peoples perspectives, tip-toe into their lives, see if there is a human connection there, and get inspired. If I wanted to see pictures of a woman perfectly posed in a c/o designer outfit, on a designer bike, with designer farmers market flowers hanging effortlessly from said bike's basket with no explanation, I'd open up an Anthropologie or J.Crew catalog.
I want to share real things I wore to real life events whether that was just a Tuesday in the office or a special occasion. The point is to share those very real moments in time I wore these things, real projects I completed, things I baked for real celebrations of people I love, real girl tips (yes this is my zit on the internet), and humor on here because at the end of the day, these are my documented memories, and my history. What the heck is the point of one day looking back on your blogged life if its the carefully curated, edited version? I want the me two years from now to peruse these archives and feel as if she were visiting an old friend. In order to do that I need to keep it real.
I just wanted to take a minute to say, although I do work with brands, and use gifted items from time to time, I will never become an online lifestyle magazine, photo-shop myself skinnier, lie to you, or bombard you with ads and sponsored posts. If you are here to begin with, I feel honored that you want to take a peek into my life and would never want to abuse that lovely gesture. To keep this a positive post, I want to share a few of my favorite bloggers that do just that:
Sydney of The Day Book - her writing on anything at all is seriously inspirational.
Kendi of Kendi Everyday - she wears really relatable mostly affordable fashions and is also witty as hell.
Aaaaand rant over, promise.

The deets: Old Navy tee; F21 skirt (similar, exact in pink); Guess jacket (similar); Target x Prabal shoes (very similar); Steve Madden bag (love this one); Lancome "Wannabe" lipstick; Michael Kors watch.
Apparently all I did last weekend was talk about babies and wear comfortable cotton midi-skirts (see last post). This was what I wore to an adorable BABY-Q themed co-ed shower last weekend. They went the non-traditional route and had all their friends and family over for some yummy BBQ eats, beer drinking contests (from a bottle), bib decorating, and instead of present opening they had the Nats game on. I know, such cool people. Yay for babies and having the time to do my hair two whole days in a row. Oh, and how thrifty am I? My top and skirt both cost under $20! I love a good deal.
