Above are just a handful of the reasons I have to be thankful for this life. My love, my pets, my family, my amazing friends who are also my family, my health, my job, my tiny apartment, this blog, and all the little moments that add up to make a life are my reasons to give thanks this season. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a holiday full of good eats and good company paired with some well deserved time off.
..Shopbop Sale!
November 24, 2014 • Fashion gift guide Karen Walker Kate Spade Oliveve Rebecca Minkoff shopbop Sonix style Vita Fede wishlist
See anything that strikes your fancy from the goodies I have picked above? Well you can snatch them up on sale at Shopbop starting today with code GOBIG at checkout. YUP. Shopbop has an amazing selection of designer gifts, and while do realize that not everyone is really in the market to spend their entire months rent on fancy pants gifts, if you ARE planning on surprising someone special with some serious luxury year, this is the time and place to do it as there are no brand restrictions and it includes sale stuff too! That is a HUGE deal. Do the right thing.
Kidding..but kind of serious if I'm on your gift list (insert angel emoji here).
So how adorable is my new iPhone case? The fact that I needed a new phone after loosing mine at a super fun wedding is another story, but in any event, I was recently in the market for a new case. As the 6 hasn't been out all that long I found the selection to be much less than what I had available with the 4s (yes I was still using it). When I came across the Sonix ones I was really drawn to the designs so I thought I would share in case anyone else was in my same situation or just looking to dress up their mobile.
Wrapped above: Victoria's Secret robe; Kate Spade (similar) earrings & necklace; J.Crew makeup bag; Pinch Provisions Minimergency Kit.
I know I am always talking up my friends up on here but I can't help it you guys. They are the bomb.com. Now this is not to say I haven't had other AMAZING bridesmaid gifts this year because I have, I even wore the bling I got in the last wedding as my accessories to this one! The thing is I just so happened to get a gorgeous photo of what an amazing wrap job my friend did and just had to share on here. She killed it right? The bottom box contains a cute navy blue silk kimono (last seen here), the tulle wrapped circular boxes contain Kate Spade earrings and a matching necklace, there is a fabulous J.Crew makeup bag poking out of the back and a glittery Minimergency Kit (which is the best thing ever, I usually keep one in my bag). See below for very similar items you could use to recreate it.

The deets: J.Crew sweater, skirt, necklace & earrings; Ivanka Trump heels (old, other leopard pump options); Rebecca Minkoff bag.
I 100% thought I would jump off the crop top train once the temps dropped. That is until I realized cropped sweaters are actually a DREAM for pairing with my favorite skirts in the office. They land at the perfect point around my waist which eliminates the awkward tucking of thick fabrics into whatever bottom I'm sporting. AMAZING.
..Four Favorites: Creative Index Print Shop
November 12, 2014 • Creative Index Four Favorites gift guide print shop
So remember how my blog layout went from zero to fabulous last year? Well it's all because of the very talented graphic designer I went with, Jessica, of Creative Index. Not only is she so good at beautifying your webspace (check out this gorgeous one she recently did for a fellow DC area blogger, Ally Cog), she's also the sweetest person ever and recently opened up an online shop where you can buy her gorgeous goodies! Above are four of my favorite things you can find at the Creative Index Print Shop, the animal lover in me just could't resist that kitty nose mug. Hello Christmas ideas.
The deets: GAP dress (on sale!); BCBGeneration booties; J.Crew necklace & bracelet; SM bag (old, other quilted bag options); Ray-Ban sunnies.
This is the outfit I ended up wearing to a besties rehearsal dinner on Friday. It was such a gorgeous November day that I didn't even need tights which makes me SO happy. We gathered at the church, went through the wedding procedures, then immediately partied with all the good company. Really, like there was no sit down dinner part of this rehearsal dinner, it was buffet style pool hall get your drink on fun. Such a cool couple dontcha think?
The deets: Tibi dress (old, other great Tibi dresses); Betsey Johnson heels (similar under $30); Piperlime clutch (old, other black clutch options); J.Crew necklace; Lancome "Pretty Burgundy" lipstick.
So trying to capture this outfit was really hard as the wind was INSANE. The majority of the photos were of me looking like a troll doll with my hair blowing in every which way. Plus wearing a skirt in the wind is dumb and challenging for obvious reasons. Anyway, I was planning on wearing this outfit tonight for a bestie's wedding rehearsal dinner but ended up choosing something warmer and just rocking this to work yesterday which was followed by happy hour margs at one of my favorite local places, Fuego.
The deets: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in "Mont Blanc," "Laguna" bronzer, and "Copacabana" Multiple; Bobbi Brown "Peony" blush & "pale yellow" powder; Laura Mercier "1" concealer; Clinique "Shy" lipstick; MAC "Mystery" shadow in brows; Urban Decay "blackout" shadow used as eyeliner; L'Oreal waterproof Voluminous mascara.
Whenever I find a new product that I love (or hate for that matter) I definitely feel the need to share the information with my girlfriends (or the world) because there is NOTHING like a real first hand opinion from another human that tried it out first, am I right? The cosmetics world is insanely good at selling us everything under the sun (or they are at least to me) by telling us how much we NEED this night cream or how that concealer will like "TOTALLY change your life." I always end up spending a fortune and then feeling really underwhelmed by the products I bought almost immediately. Since no one is a fan of #buyersremorse and I am a self-proclaimed beauty junkie I am going to start posting once an a while about the stuff that really works for me. Not sponsored in any way! Just straight talk about beauty products.
Let's start with this NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. It's amazing, and this is coming from a foundation hater. I like basically never wear it because sleep trumps looking flawless, and when I do wear it (weddings, etc.) I always reach for my tried and true MUFE HD foundation. I decided to try something new based on it's seemingly good reviews around the internet and I am hella glad I did. It's a lovely more sheer and dewey alternative. I also have the most sensitive skin in the world and I wore this full face of foundation from 4pm-2am Saturday night and nadda one breakout backlash. Now here are some giant photos of my face so you can see! No photo retouching at all! My only complaint is that is doesn't come in a bottle with a pump, but apparently you can buy one for an additional charge.
..Chocolate Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies
November 4, 2014 • chocolate chip cookies cookie recipe recipe post
Okay I realize these are not the most beautiful looking pictures or cookies for that matter, and I wasn't even planning on posting them, but when I took a little nibble of the dough I whipped my phone out and started attempting to take some pictures of them because, YOU GUYS. These cookies are like the most delicious, chocolately, gooey, wonderful things in the world. So here are some ghetto photos and the recipe.
Ingredients
1 box brownie mix
4 oz cream cheese (half of a package)
1/2 cup butter (one stick)
1 egg
1.5 cups milk chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350. Mix cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Beat in the egg then gradually add in the brownie mixture. When that becomes dough-like fold in the chocolate chips. Drop onto cookie sheet and bake for 10ish minutes.
The deets: Blank Denim faux suede pants (on sale); Shoemint heels; Ray-Ban sunnies; white tank & sweater found at TJ Maxx; Rebecca Minkoff bag; J.Crew earrings; Baublebar "Courtney" bib necklace; Lancome "Pretty Burgundy" lipstick.
I borrowed these sunnies as I was walking out the door from my boyfriend. I got them for him for Christmas last year but think they look pretty good on myself. I may have to start thinking about another double duty gift idea..just kidding. Wink wink. Also these pants make me feel like a rockstar and since we had the first super chilly weekend and in my mind that means moody purple lipstick is back in the rotation.
