Not going to lie to you guys, I was straight up PANICKED about the beach trip I just took last weekend. My body is changing by the minute and not in the most flattering way and even though I am SO SO grateful for everything it's currently doing to grow my baby girl, I didn't exactly want to put it all out there on display. I ordered and returned suits and cover-ups like a mad woman frantically trying to find something to work but as it turns out - the two non maternity things I took a chance on ended up being the most comfortable. I also realized that when you are at a beach over Memorial Day Weekend, it's 87 degrees and sunny and also a hot spot destination for college students - the pregnant lady on the beach is basically invisible. I could have been out there shaking my tail feather and no one would have cared or even noticed. We had AMAZING weather the entire weekend and it felt so good to get my toes in the sand, dip my body in the ocean, and relax. I am so glad I didn't chicken out because the R&R time was just what I needed in my 25th week of pregnancy.
The deets: GAP dress; Steve Madden heels (similar & more sizes); J.Crew hat (old, similar, similar, similar & super cute for a honeymooner!); Kate Spade mini bag (similar, similar under $15).
My favorite season is here! Hat season. Get ready to see them in every post because I literally live for a good summer hat. Also this dress is a maternity style from GAP, I normally don't love wrap style maternity wear because the "v" in the front is usually a leeeetle to low to be approps on these pregnancy boobs - but this one has a little snap button that makes it more modest that I really dig. I wore to this outfit to my family's Mother's Day dinner a couple weekends ago and then again to the Taste of Arlington food festival that takes place right on my street. Great for day or night just swap the heels for flats and a jean jacket. I am currently 24 weeks in these photos and feel like my bump is at a point where it gets visibly bigger each week - finally at the stage where I get a few metro seats offered to be in the morning if I am wearing something form fitting (which was something I was looking forward to for some weird reason - it's a metro mamma's milestone). No real cravings but I definitely LOVE me some sweets right now. I could eat ice cream for every meal. For real. Also cereal with cold milk has been my jam.
The deets: Seraphine dress (under $45 right now - similar style here); Madewell heels (old, similar); Michael Kors bag (similar, similar under $60); J.Crew jean jacket (on sale today); Baublebar earrings (sold out - similar); Ray-Ban sunnies (similar under $14).
I wore this little maternity dress on Saturday to my very first trip to Buy Buy Baby. My husband wanted to "test drive" the strollers on our list before making a solid registry decision. It was surreal and a little scary to come to the realization that babies need like, ALL THE THINGS. Aside from that I have really been living in comfortable dresses (maternity and not) with a jacket over for both work and play. It's really become my go-to since I know it works in most situations. I know this method won't work for too much longer when it gets to be super hot but for now it's a time saver in the morning! That and the fact that I have fully cleaned out my closet to make a specific section for things I know will fit me in this moment. It's a small, small slice of the closet but knowing exactly where to each and pull from really saves me from what was becoming a daily anxiety dressing for work each morning. I know some women out there didn't have to do much extra shopping for their bumps, my own sister maybe purchased a total of two maternity dresses her whole pregnancy, but it's not the case for me. I have been out of most of my work/play wardrobe since week 15 so I have had to get creative/invest in mostly new pieces for work wear, weekend wear, underpinnings (my chest has gone up three sizes), and swim/vacation since I have two on the horizon. I like dresses like this because they can cross over from weekend to throwing on a blazer and pumps and being work friendly. Also feeling so, SO much better here in week 22! I think I have finally hit the Goldilocks phase of this thing.
