The deets: J.Crew chambray shirt; Banana Republic maxi (very old); Rachel Zoe heels; Urban Outfitter sunnies; Earrings c/o JEWELIQ; Piperlime clutch.
It was rainy all weekend here in DC and I had a housewarming get together to attend for one of my besties. I was caught in the middle of wanting that cozy-up-on-the-couch-while-it-rains feeling and wanting to look nice for the party so I decided on this comfy cotton maxi. I really thought it needed a jacket of some sort because of the icky weather but jean jackets feel a little dated on me so I opted for just tying this chambray shirt up around my waist to keep it more casual. Since I am 5'2 I of course had to break out my highest heels to ensure my dress wouldn't drag in the rain. I actually loved how it all felt together. I didn't, however, really think about the logistics of a floor length dress and 6 inch heels and I now have the skinned knee I earned on the dirty CVS carpet to prove it. Yup, I did a sliding-into-homebase-wipeout in a packed convenient store. Good thing I was able to run out of there and never see those people again since I had already made my purchase right? Only I forgot my umbrella at the checkout. It was fun having to walk back into the store where people were still visibly laughing to retrieve it. Good times.

I am replaying that story in my head, and it makes for a great movie. It's the kind of awkward comedy that Cameron Diaz could play...although she's like a million feet tall so she probably wouldn't have been wearing 6" heels in the first place. Anyway, thanks for making me laugh this morning! Oh, AND the outfit is cute :)

hahaha, aw that's the worst but it is a cute outfit - maybe it distracted them? The story was probably like "OH THIS HOT GIRL WIPED OUT" and I'll take that any day.

ReplyDeleteThis weekend's weather was just depressing. I had dinner plans for Saturday night -- Siam House in Cleveland Park -- and stood in front of my closet for about 20 minutes before deciding on a chambray shirt, cut offs, and sandals. The sandals were not my best idea ever, but the chambray shirt was the PERFECT weight. Let's hope the sun comes out this weekend, though. I need some pool time!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ! So chic and effortless.

Love your outfit and how you opted for the chambray shirt instead of a jean jacket. I'm 5'2 as well and always thought I was too short for maxi dresses. I think I'll have to check some out after seeing your outfit! xoxo, Phoebe
