..Challah Bread

Oh yes I did.  Super proud baker right here.  Since I have zero bread making skills (quite frankly yeast scares me in the kitchen) I followed this recipe (very exactly) and it came out great! Mike is half Jewish so I decided it would be nice to make something special for him for the first night of Hanukkah, which was Saturday.  A new tradition that I intend keep up every year.   I can't say for sure if I'd ever pick challah bread again (as it was seriously time consuming to wait through three rises of the dough and I'm still not sure if that braid is right) but it was definitely delish. We have intentionally set some aside for breakfast as I hear it makes the best french toast in all the land.  Happy Hanukkah if you celebrate it and if not, Happy Monday!

  3. That looks delicious! Baking, yeast, and all that craziness scares me too. But glad you enjoyed it and tell us how the french toast turned out!! (you should try taking two slices of the bread, slather it with nutella, add some sliced bananas & strawberries in between, and dunk the whole thing into the egg batter... it'll be one of hte best things you taste in your entire life!!)

  10. Seriously, GOOD WORK. I've tried my hand at challah in the past and it isn't easy. You may have convinced me to give it another go, though.

PS -- If you ever make challah again, I highly suggest adding a little cinnamon to the dough. You'll thank me later. Trust me.
