Dear DC Weather, Please stop being such a bipolar monster. Our jackets should be going into hibernation, the air should be filled with the smell of grills everywhere rejoicing in their revival, day-drinking should be making it's comeback any minute now, and pretty espadrille shoes like those above should be making their way to my feet. Instead you tease us with glorious sun shiny days just to then rip them from us and slide in cold rainy wintery wind in it's place. CUT. IT. OUT. You sneaky little curmudgeon! P.S. Pretty sweet deal I came across here, eh? Thanks, Erin | |||||||||||
I know that people are probably a little sick of the whole cake-pop/cake-ball trend, but I just can't help that my love for them is as fresh as the day I first laid eyes on one of these babies. They are joy and sunshine magically condensed into a tiny ball of deliciousness and perfect for parties because the flavor/color combo possibilities are endless. Just blend baked cake and icing together, roll, stick, freeze, dip, and sprinkle.
Last Saturday I attended my first "Swap & Shop" event hosted by DewdropDC with my good friend, Truly (gorgeous Asian girl below). She writes for Ask Miss A, and her articles (including a full recap of the event) are featured here. I snagged a super cute LBD from the swap and a hot pink blazer from one of the pop up shops among other goodies. I also got to meet some fellow DC bloggers which was really awesome! Ashlyn of "Let it be Beautiful" and Natalie of "Fashionably Broke" pictured mid-shop below.
Also I am over here today on Erica's blog! Check her out!
My cousin was in town to visit this weekend and making cupcakes with me was on her bucket list of things to do together. Since cookie-dough is her favorite ice cream we decided to make it into a cupcake. I have seen recipes that call for freezing balls of dough and dropping them in the batter, but I find the dough gets a little dry and I didn't have much luck. I instead tried my own version which came out great! I just made chocolate cupcakes according to box instructions (or you can make from scratch). Carved out a "V" from the center of the cupcake and filled with an egg-less cookie dough (below). Frosted with this icing and topped with mini chocolate chips. They were even better tasting after being in the refrigerator for a while!
Egg-less Cookie Dough
1 stick softened butter
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
The deets: Thrifed blazer (DewdropDC Swap); Tobi blouse; Express pants; MIA wedges; Essie "Blushing Bride" and "Blanc" nails (DIY french coming soon!)
This is Alba, our pup. She likes running with Mike, squeaky toys, and digging socks out of the hamper to present as gifts throughout the day. She can't bare to see a hug or a photo get snapped without getting super jealous and trying to join in on the party. On this particular day I felt like she earned her fifteen minutes of Currently Coveting fame. She is pretty cute isn't she? Yeah.
Anyway, I'm really digging matching my lipstick to whatever I have on that day, it just makes my insides smile, try it. This day I mixed a little "Love that Pink" with "Orange Flip" (both Revlon) to match my new blazer and it turned out perfectly!
Happy Weekend.
Brunching with besties is becoming a weekend ritual of sorts for me. It's really nice to see everyone and catch up over mimosas and bellini's and although it can get crazy with a table full of extremely busy ladies speaking loudly to reach each other, it's totally worth every trip! If you live in the DC area you should totally check out Urbana, the freshly pureed make-your-own bellini bar was top notch (the mango puree with champagne was my favorite)!
P.S. I am also over here today, check it out!
The deets: Wet Seal lace top; J.Crew skirt; Payless shoes; Michael Kors watch; Essie "Blushing Bride" nails.
I have no idea what made me put this crazy outfit together last night. I had a friend's birthday dinner right after work and obviously got ready in a hurry...anyway, the shoes and top are both from places I'm rather embarrassed to go in (but I did anyway since I'm addicted to shopping and it's all I've got in walking distance) but in my opinion, were such great finds! I love the color and texture of the top and the shoes look identical to the much pricier Steve Madden version. Lucky for me I live next to all these cheapy places and not the good stuff or I'd be broke. Happy weekend.
We recently made the switch to almond milk at our place and we both wanted pancakes Easter morning. We got to thinking about if it makes a big difference to cook things that usually need milk with our new sub and started googling. Turns out, there are TONS of almond milk pancake recipes out there. We used this one and could not have been more pleased!
Ingredients
1 cup flour
1 1/2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup almond milk
2 tbsp melted butter
1 egg
Mix dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, beat egg, butter and milk and mix. Add the dry to the wet, whisking thoroughly. Batter will be a little lumpy. Heat pan over medium heat. Coat surface with a little butter. Use 1/3 cup to pour out pancakes, makes five. After a couple minutes when bubbles start to form on the top, flip and cook for another minute. DELISH.

Hey there. I will be a bit MIA on here for a few days as I am in Las Vegas for my annual bestie reunion retreat. I'm either poolside, drinking tequila, losing money, or dancing my tokhis off right now. Since a lot of my gal pals decided NY, Miami, and San Fran were the places they'd like to live, it's nice to pick a fun city for us all to meet and catch up. I'll be back on Monday (hopefully) with some fabulous tales of fun times.
xx,
Erin
The deets: J.Crew pencil skirt and Factory button down; Ivanka Trump heels; Betsy Johnson chain necklace; Essie "California Coral" nails; Revlon "Orange Flip" lipstick.
It's normal to match your shoes to your nails to your lipstick, right? I'm just wondering if there are any other ladies out there that do this or if I am alone in my new found love of the lip-nail-shoe match-y match-y dance?
The deets: Modcloth dress c/o Lizzie; Bebe belt; Guess shoes; Express necklace; Essie "California Coral" nails.
Sometimes there is nothing more fun for me (being such a girly girl) than putting on my Britney Spears Pandora station and drinking a glass of wine while I take my time primping to go out, otherwise known as "Glam Time." I will be getting lots of it this weekend while in VEGAS!
Just in case you were wondering, this fabulous dress was a generous giveaway win from Lizzie at "Place Clever Title Here." Go check her out, she's adorable.
The deets: J.Crew pencil and sweater; Kelsi Dagger pumps; Michael Kors watch; Essie "Lovie Dovie" nails; Lancome "Violette Croquette" lipstick.
1. I have gotten too lazy to do my hair everyday and this is the result..wild and crazy. This actually isn't as bad as today, I literally looked like an escaped patient from the mental ward at work, all I needed was an extra large bathrobe and some bunny slippers.
2. I wore this outfit for Easter dinner, and then again to work today because I was to lazy to pick out a new outfit (minus the 5 inch heels). Yup. I did that.
3. I really dig Lancome's new "Rouge In Love" lipstick line. I found my favorite new purple color which is very exciting for someone who was always afraid of sorta looking like a vampire with purple lips (that has nothing to do with laziness but I thought I should end on a positive note).
Pretty pink blossoms, Easter treats, fluffy cat naps, good times with great friends, FINALLY seeing The Hunger Games on a date night with Mike, and sunny morning walks with the pup are all the ingredients that made for a fabulously fun and relaxing weekend. How did you guys spend yours?
