The deets: J.Crew button down; Banana Republic skirt (similar); ALDO heels (similar); Kate Spade earrings; Lancome "Wannabe" lipstick; Essie "Watermelon" nails; Elizabeth and James sunnies; necklace c/o DaisyGem; Steve Madden bag.
I know I usually make some anecdotal comment about what I'm wearing but today I'm keeping it short because I've been having a less that fun start to my week including working late unexpectedly, glitchy programs, losing my metro card, and a slew of other tiny frustrations. I just need to make it to happy hour tomorrow and all will be right in the world again. Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!..or at least a better one than I am having :)

July 25, 2013 • banana republic J.Crew J.Crew Factory Outfit Post South Moon Under Stripes Work Style
The deets: J.Crew top (now on sale!) & Cardi; Banana Republic wedges (old); South Moon Under sunnies; Factory skirt; Wet Seal necklace (similar); Michael Kors watch.
During the gorgeous DC summer months this is what you will find me in 90% of the time. A bright pencil, a easy breezy top and maaaybe a cardi in tote for those times when the office gods decide to blast freezing air on us for laughs.
Sidenote: If you are wondering why I look so darn tan in this post please refer to my cheat sheet here (and also magic).
In honor of little Prince George Alexander Louis and his fabulous mama, Kate Middleton, I've decided this week's most coveted item is the LBPDD (little blue polka-dot dress). Ever since the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out holding that little bundle of royal cuteness in that blue dress, I have been LOVING this print. Cheers!

July 22, 2013 • banana republic Essie Francesca's ivanka trump J.Crew michael kors Outfit Post Steve Madden
The deets: J.Crew dress (last year but J.Crew Factory made a perfect copy here!); South Moon Under sunnies; Banana Republic belt; Francesca's earrings; Steve Madden bag; Michael Kors watch; Ivanka Trump heels; Essie "In the Cabana" nails.
Another day, another work look. I'm usually kinda put off by this dress because it's red. I have maj problemos with red pieces because pairing them with my go-to black and white neutrals makes my mind go right to Santa Claus, and there just ain't nothin' cute or trendy about that (sorry, Santa...please don't put me on the naughty list for that comment). I decided to just suck it up and do it anyway. I think the leopard print helps, unless Santa has a shoe thing we all don't know about (no judging here).

I recently purchased the ShoeMint "Shiva" heels in silver and I LOVE them. I only wish I had known about Target's fabulous version before I got them! They're almost identical and for fifty dollars less! Regardless, I think any one of them are a fun way to glam up your look with out being too crazy, I really seem to be drawn to metallics lately.

The deets: J.Crew skirt and button down; South Moon Under sunnies & bracelet; Steve Madden bag; Lou Lou's earrings; Target x Prabal shoes; necklaces c/o Lisa Leonard; Michael Kors watch; Lacome "Wannabe" lipstick.
Nothing too exciting to see here, just my average Monday morning work day attire. You might notice on this blog that a lot of my weekend attire tends to be less expensive (example, example, example), where as most of my work stuff is a little nicer quality (ahem...J.Crew addict). I just have a really hard time getting down with buying something expensive that I will spend so little time in, where as I basically LIVE in my work clothes throughout the week. Just in case you were wondering, that's my logic.
..DIY Cronuts
• crescent dough Cronut DIY cronut Eats and Sweets OMG cocktail glasses recipe post Shop Yellow Hammer Yellow Hammer Design Shop
As many of you know (or if you don't know you might be living under a rock) the "cronut" is the latest sweet treat to hit the market since the whole cake-pops fad. Not only are these things so highly coveted that people will wait in line for HOURS just to get a taste outside of the Dominique Ansel Bakery, but for those fancy pants peeps who don't want to wait, there is actually a delivery service that will bring you one for $100 or twenty for $3000. Sign me up! NOT. MAKES NO SENSE. WHY?! Are they made from unicorn tears and gold leprechaun nuggets?! Do they cure diseases? I rarely get fresh with language on this blog but this calls for a WTF?!
I obviously needed to try this magical confection but was not willing to make a trip to NYC to do so, nor was I willing to put in that much effort for this croissant-donut hybrid. I wanted it NOW. So I just bought some prepackaged crescent roll dough and made them myself. Directions below.
1. Mend the perferated edges of the dough and then fold it in half. Roll out your dough for cutting.
2. I used my adorable OMG tumbler to cut a circle (c/o Yellow Hammer Design Shop) and then my tequila top to make the hole.
3. Bring about four cups of veggie oil to medium heat in a large pot and fry them on each side for about 60-90 seconds then remove them from oil and place on a paper towel.
4. Roll warm cronut in a bowl of cinnamon and sugar.
5. The real cronuts have pastry cream inside but again, I wanted it now, so I just used pre-made vanilla pudding (snack pack style) and placed some inside of the layers.
6. Finish by making a simple glaze from 1 cup powdered sugar and a couple teaspoons of cold whole milk and drizzling liberally all over. YUM!
7. Clean your tumblers, fill them up with skinny girl margs and reflect on the 1837 (guesstimate) calories you just consumed in one cronut. (optional step)..Bright Stripes
July 15, 2013 • ivanka trump J.Crew michael kors nautical Outfit Post South Moon Under Steve Madden Stripes work wear
The deets: J.Crew blouse (last year) and pencil skirt; Ivanka Trump heels; South Moon Under earrings and sunnies; Steve Madden bag; Michael Kors watch; Revlon "Apricot Blaise" lipstick.
Whenever I wear this top I feel like it's such a fun idea. Then two hours roll around and I begin to feel like I'm missing a squeaky red nose and over-sized shoes. Office attire? Yes. Clown colors? Yes. Office clown?...Maybe. These sunnies were a surprise b-day gift from a bestie and didn't she just do the best job?! I lov'em. Ever since I lost my favorite pair of Ray-Ban's at Seacrets (the place where sunglasses, coherence, and dignity do to die) in Ocean City there has been a little sunglasses void inside of me. Until I can afford to replace them (which probably wont be until my apartment is fully furnished) these are my new favs!
There is EXTRA 40% off sale going on right now at J.Crew Factory with code SPREE! That means they are basically giving away their stuff, people. Go get you some before your size runs out. Above are some of my favorites currently still available (things go out of stock quickly apparently). Closet yummies galore.
..So What's in There Anyway?
July 10, 2013 • iconemesis michael kors minimergency kit party-cats What's in my bag
So you all have seen this trusty bag on this blog oh I don't know...six million times. Ever wonder what the heck is inside? Well here you have it. I don't really like to carry a whole lot around with me but definitely like to be prepared. Aside from what you see here (also detailed below) the only other things usually inside are my heels to change into at work, my keys, and maybe my camera (which is why I LERVE this bag, it fits everything!). What do you guys have hanging out in yours?
Make Up: I only take the real touch up necessities which are my brozer (and brush), concealer, lip balm, and lipstick. I also usually have whatever my current favorite polish color is in there and some hair ties.
Sunnies: I always have two pairs on me, don't know why. Usually my black ones and some kind of aviator.
Spectacles: Yup. I need glasses. Nerd alert.
Wallet: Le duh. Mine is this fabulous MK one.
Just in case: My AH-MAZING "minimergency kit" (a.k.a. best gift ever. It has 17 little essentials like a sewing kit, tampon, topcoat, etc. would make a perfect bachelorette goody bag stuffer), band-aids for my painful shoe addiction, and advil.
iPhone: This guy basically runs my life and feeds my social media addiction. I'm obsessed with my little party-cats case too! Aren't they the cutest? My favorite is the little guy holding a cupcake. Adorbs. Iconemesis makes the best cases, you can see another one I have from my Fairmont Tea experience here (c/o).
The deets: Headband c/o Andrea's Beau (another seen here); Loft tee; J.Crew pencil; Ivanka Trump heels; Elizabeth and James sunnies; Steve Madden bag; gifted necklace (designer unknown); Kate Spade earrings.
Ever have one of those days where it's so hot you can't blow dry your hair, you can't put an outfit together to save your life, and are sweaty and gross before you even make it to work because you have to walk in 95 degree heat to the metro? No? Well that was today for me. Thank heavens I have this nifty headband to help hide my humidity hair. And for black always going with black. No brains required.
Love my pretty embellished headband? Get one for your self at Andrea's Beau with 20% off your whole order with code CurrentlyCoveting at checkout!
