..15 Ways to Brighten Your Work Space
March 8, 2018 • currently coveting desk accessories home decor office space
Hi, it's me. I am not dead. I know it's been about a month since you've heard from me but I had some inspiration strike for a post so here I am back in the blog saddle. I came up with the idea for this post for two reasons. First, I very recently paid of my student loan (WOO HOO! - which was a 15 year loan that I paid off five years early #getthatdirtoffyashoulda) and it had me remembering how I felt in the spring of 2008, newly graduated and not sure about what the future held for me except that I'd likely be working behind a computer screen in a dimly lit cubicle. Ten years later - while my offices have changed a few times over the years - I still do. Secondly, If you are like me, you might need that little bit of joy from small things around you to get you through the mundane workday. These little pieces of cheer really do bring me happiness so I wanted to share these fifteen things. They would all also make AWESOME new graduate gifts! The best part is that almost all of these items are under $15.
1. I have this exact gold framed calendar and honestly look forward to creating new lettering for each month and mapping out my days. I literally look up different handwriting styles and play around with them each month. If you have to look at it every day - should be cute right? It's also eco-friendly since you reuse it instead of throwing away calendar paper.
2. Fun pens. Enough said.
3. This unicorn head pen holder is super cute - the exact one I have is a gold baby deer head but very similar!
4. I have gold paper clips that get little gold bits everywhere so I wouldn't suggest them but these little flamingo ones are precious and cheap! Also come in pineapple.
5. A pretty coaster is a great way to save your desk from rings and bring some cheer. I have one that says "Do Your Best."
7. I have this exact mouse pad in gold marble. Can't beat it for the price!
8. I also have this exact trinket dish that holds my cute paper clips but this little turtle one is also very cute!
9. A chic stapler.
10. I have an agate box on my desk that I use to hold mints, tea packets, cough drops, and the like.
11. I have been eyeing this acrylic tissue box holder for some time.
12. A cheeky little mug to match your cheeky little notepad.
13. I have these little animal head pins to tack up my boring schedules. My boss laughs and calls them my "kills" as if I were a tiny animal hunter.
14. Plants are an easy way to freshen up any area. This one is a parlor palm, I have one home and it's very hard to kill.
15. Some personal photos! I used Frambridge to frame one of my favorite Instagram photos and hung it up in my cube for smiles. Under $40!

Okay not a "sunnie" sale per se, but Shopbop IS having their buy more save more event (use code GOBIG) which I think is a good time to invest in some staples since they don't ever usually go on sale like, EVER. Here are a few of my absolute work horses. Also this sunglasses box was a very good find on Amazon, under $17 (here).

20% Off Orders of $500+ with code GOBIG17

I love Valentine's Day. I love the sentiment, the cute confections, I love the flowers. I also know that as a women, V-Day is really all about us. We get the pretty things, we get to dress up and get taken for dinner, and we usually are the ones given the fancy presents. Since the flower giving/dinner taking are already pricey I wouldn't ever expect anything over the top for this holiday (or even anything at all). I actually gifted Mike some really nice sunglasses a couple years ago to make up for all the lack luster v-days he has had to endure on his end which I think was a really great surprise. If a fellow decided that they just HAD to get me something then here are some really fun gifts that are under $60 that would absolutely make my night. I actually already have the cook book and can attest to it's fabulousness.

Call me basic, call me lame, call me predictable and cheesy, I don't care. I like to stick to the theme when it comes to holidays and Valentine's Day calls for pink. I wore pink last year, red the year before, way back when, and even on the years I skipped it in my outfit still incorporated pink lipstick or pink shoes. I just enjoy sticking to the plan in that way. On my hunt for a cute one for this year I came across so many different styles and hues. I guess pink is super in right now because my options were aplenty. Here are some of my favorites. Happy V-day outfit planning!

..Honeymoon Picks
September 7, 2016 • currently coveting Currently Coveting Wedding Eliza Gran Glamorous honeymoon J.Crew Mara Hoffman Private Party Shoshanna
The deets: Mara Hoffman maxi dress; J.Crew stripe dress; Glamorous tassel dress; Shoshanna embroidered cover-up; SUNDRESS stripe dress; Carry On Cocktail Kits; Eliza Gran beach bag; Private Party "Just Married" sweatshirt.
After being sucked into the black hole that is planning a wedding (the words "seating chart" alone send me into a cold panic filled sweat), I have come to the point where all I want to do is go on vacation! My honeymoon to be exact, we're headed to the Dominican Republic and all I can dream of these days are sunshine and sand and tropical drinks glued to my hands - yes that's a plural HANDS. Being the shopper that I am, I had to make sure I had some pretty and fun things to rock during our trip. I'm apparently really into pastels, stripes, tassels, and poms (but who isn't these days). Behold all the goodies I have decided to keep, it's honeymoon season after all.

The deets: Rachel Pally "Roy" Midi Dress; J.Crew Racerback Tank Dress in Stripe; Old Navy Rib-Knit Midi Tank Dress.
MDW is around the corner which means you get to pull out all of your 'Murica gear and drink beer at a BBQ in the sunshine somewhere. Donning a red and white striped dress is basically the classier version of that. I actually purchased the least expensive version above from Old Navy (hello $15 steal) which you might think would sit like a potato sack on a non model but I swear it didn't disappoint! Very comfortable and flattering on even this 5'2" curvy girl.

..Hat Season
May 9, 2016 • Ace of Something Brixton Catarzi clothing currently coveting Fashion Forever 21 GAP J.Crew Old Navy
If there is one thing I love most about dressing for sunny days it's the possibility of getting to wear a hat. I don't know why but I feel prettier in them, more put together and lady-like. They cover up bad hair days, protect your mug from sunburn, and just add general character. Above are some favorites from seasons past, some ones I recently purchased, and some I have my eye on!

..Luxe Look for Less: White Dresses
April 15, 2016 • currently coveting Forever 21 Lulu*s Luxe Look for Less
The deets: Lovers + Friends bodycon dress; Forever 21 Strapless Lace Dress; Self Portrait Azalea Lace Dress; Lulu*s Ivory Lace Midi Dress.
It's been a while since I did a "Luxe Look for Less" post (see all of them here) and on my white dress hunt in the year of my wedding I have come across some great dupes! After longing and obsessing over that Self Portrait gorgeousness I purchased the Lulu*s version for a possible shower option.

The deets: Leather Soludos: Pom Pom Sandals; Prada Sunnies; Karen Walker Sunnies; Star Mela beach bag; Sundress coverup; Scallop bikini. Everything you see is 25% off with code "INTHEFAM."
I recently made Memorial Day weekend plans to go up to Ocean City, MD. Since booking the trip all I can think about are swim suits, beachy sundresses, and sunnies so naturally when I heard Shopbop was having their annual Friends & Family sale I went right to the summer selections. I also think it's a great time to pick up your summer sunnies and beach bag as those are some bigger ticket items that don't usually go on sale but you get so much use out of. I wear these two pairs ALL THE TIME and use my gorgeous Star Mela bag for every beach trip (last seen here, here, here and here and raved about the cute brand here).

The deets: Outfit 1 - Dress, Earrings, Heels. Outfit 2 - Dress, Earrings, Heels. Outfit 3 - Dress, Earrings, Heels.
I guess if I'm going to put in the time to actually blog, I'm going to blog about whats taking over my brain, and currently, that's everything wedding event attire. I am a little type A when it comes to outfit planning for anything out of my daily routine so being in a wedding year has me a little crazy to say the least. So many shower, bachelorette, and rehearsal looks to pin down. As it's looking like I might have three different showers in three different states, I feel like I need a spreadsheet for everything (I may already have one, folks). Somewhere along the way I realized I do in fact want to wear white at my events, at first I thought I wouldn't want to be that traditional but when I was entertaining other colors I felt a teeny tiny bit of sadness. These are some of the more "fun" looks I've been entertaining that aren't going to fall into the expected all white look but won't completely fall out of the "bride to be white dress" category either. Also, I know I am yammering on about "bridal" blah blah but you can totally wear all of these looks to any springtime event!

..Engagement Gift Ideas
February 25, 2016 • currently coveting Currently Coveting Wedding engagement gifts Love Wedding wedding planning
Did anyone else notice their Facebook feed blow up with engagement announcements over the v-day weekend? I definitely did, and in the spirit of the month of love I wanted to share some great engagement gift ideas that people were sweet enough to gift me.
1. Ring dishes. These are literally where my ring lives when I am home 75% of the time. I just don't like to cook or clean with it on so I love having a designated spot I can place it (I keep one by the kitchen sink and one by my bathroom sink) while I go about my business. You can buy them, find my exact ones here and here or if you are crafty, you can try your hand at making them, DIY here!
2. The Mrs. Box. While I LOVE my new bling I don't necessarily love the leather box it came in all that much. These beautiful heirloom boxes are the most fun upgrade and last a lifetime. The monogramming is optional but gives it an extra special touch. I feel like it's getting your ring the best luxury bedding to sleep in when you have to put it away.
3. Ornaments! No matter what time of year you get engaged, starting from scratch on sentimental or unique ornaments can be a very expensive investment (hello, target box of 20). I so appreciated the flurry of thoughtful cute ornaments I got to put on our otherwise barren first "engaged" tree! One of my favorites we got is here.
4. Young House Love. After I got this book I spend a whole morning perusing it in bed. I had just moved into a new apartment the weekend after we got engaged so it was full of great inspo for my small space and small decorating budget. I can't wait to try out some projects for our terrace when it gets warmer.
5. Cheeky "His & Her Better Half" mugs. Mugs are something that I didn't even put on our registry because I kind of love the mix match pick them up as you go through life vibe that they allow for. I've kept one from every job, our schools, and my fiance has a couple from his childhood sports. I love that we have these (the only two that match in our collection) to remember this time. I couldn't find my exact ones but think these are so cute! This would also make a pretty simple DIY gift.
6. Picture frames. Lots, and I mean LOTS of happy photo worthy moments on the horizon, yet I don't really have too many frames to display them in. I love this pretty rose gold one my future mother in law got me to match my ring! I put our save the date in it as a memento.
7. Fortune Telling Book for Brides. Just for fun! I like to pop in there every time I make a decision about something and see what the little book says it "means." They have something for everything in there (month, flower, weather) it's nice to be silly during the sometimes too serious process.
8. Not pictured: My planners! I literally live and die by them so much that I didn't have them to photograph because I keep them in my office at work to stay on top of everything. So many meetings, reminders, and coordination goes into throwing the biggest party of your life so planners are everything. I was lucky enough to get this one and this one.
