Remember when I told you I was going to be chatting fashion at the Northern Virginia Magazine kick off Fashion NoVA event? Well this is what I wore (please excuse the flat hair and wrinkles in my dress we were sitting in the sun and I did sweat a bit...totally because of the heat and not at all because I was super nervous to get up in front of a crowd of people and speak, I swear..). Well I had the best birthday ever. Started out with BOTTOMLESS mimosas on the outside deck right on the water at Sequoia in Georgetown. I litereally had PERFECT weather and the best friends a girl could ask for to celebrate with. After meeting a pirate and discovering the Boomerang Pirate Ship (which we HAVE to do at some point friendies), we took the party pack to Arlington where I proceeded to take many a tequila shot, then stuffed our faces with cheese fries, and decided karaoke would be the best way to end the night. Love everyone who made my day feel so very special. You know who you are and you are my world!

On Saturday morning the evil winter gods decided to turn spring loose for a bit which resulted in a gloriously perfect day. Obviously, if you weren't on a rooftop somewhere having a libation while letting your forehead and nose roast you weren't taking full advantage of this gift. Although it was followed up by the dreariest of rainy days, it totally reignited my excitement for the upcoming months. Bring on the brightly colored everythings (blazers especially), outdoor partying, and general good time having. I'm ready!

Dina of Sweetest Somethings asked me to do a little colab-post on ways to wear peplum. Of course I said yes as I love this trend and her adorable blog. I chose a mini skirt version paired with a fancy tweed jacket and she chose a long sleeve zip up. Two totally different pieces, one fun trend. I dig it because it's an ultra lady-like look while also being one awesome disguise for my boo-tay (or a totally awesome fake-out for those with less of a boo-tay if ya know what I mean). Here's to hoping this style has some staying power!

I know, I know. It's basically a faux-pas to wear the bubble necklace after it blew up, went totally out of control popular, and everyone and their mom started wearing one in every color but hey, I nabbed this guy for six dollars at the Wet Seal in the mall across the street (all their accessories were half off) and still think it provides a fun way to polish up any look. I'm just not one of those girls that needs to be two steps ahead and I'm totally okay with it. I say bubble-necklace on, folks.
I'm currently coveting these SUPER Ciccio and Lucia sunglasses .
While I was in NYC visiting my friend Steph a couple weekends ago we took a little trip to the mother-ship Piperlime store. While perusing the amazing selection of everything dreams are made of I stumbled upon these perfect sunnies near the check out line. I fell in LOVE I tell you! Unfortunately as timing would have it I had like totally just fallen in love and taken the plunge with these ones the week before and my budget was all like "you can't fall in love with two pairs of sunnies that are over $150 bucks in two weeks"... so I walked away (that budget can be a real stickler). I so wish I hadn't though! How cute are they?

Here we have another work look documented for your viewing (or glazing over) pleasure. I went a little matchy-matchy-cray-cray but no regrets here. I maaaaybe miiight have been pushing the rules a little with this number (I didn't realize how short it looked until checking out these photos). The lucky people standing below me on the metro escalators might have gotten a little more than they paid for that day but I came out of the office unscathed so no harm done! So I you know how I have an affinity for polka dotted everythings? Well I saw these pants and just couldn't help myself. I need polka-rehab. The minute this trend goes out of style I am in big trouble because I will have nothing to wear..or maybe it already has and I'm like one of those women that peaked in the 80's and continues to tease her bangs even though everyone knows it's no longer socially acceptable to do so...what if I peaked in the polka phase...is that better or worse than 80's bangs? Ahh!

I am positively obsessed with the "sexy boyfriend" jean from GAP. I have not shopped there in so long but kept seeing these fabooshka bloggers like Kendi rocking them and decided to get me a pair. Three months later they are my favorite broken in, perfect for dressing up or down denim. I think I might go back to get a pair that I will keep sans rips in a darker wash (the exact ones I have on are no longer available). I usually hate wearing jeans because they make me feel like a tree-stumpy little waddler (I'm not entirely sure what I mean by that but it feels right...I guess waddler = shawty with a booty in tight jeans) but these do not!

When I first laid eyes on this little number I gasped in excitement. Rainbow, chevron, AND sparkles? Heaven. When I saw the price-tag, not so fabulous. I mean, can't a girl get a reasonably priced sparkly-rainbow-chevron mini around here or what?
Good thing I found this little gem just one day earlier at a price I could get down with. Happiness achieved.
